Tripoli- The Secretary of the General People's Committee for Foreign Liaison and International Cooperation Mr. Mussa Kussa met on Thursday with the US special envoy to Sudan Scott Gration and accompanying delegation.
According to the Libyan news agency JANA, Mr. Gration appraised the efforts and initiatives that have been made by the Leader of the Revolution Muammar Al-Qathafi with regard to solving disputes in the African continent, especially Darfur.
Gration said "Libya is the state that deeply understands what is going on in the region and is respected by all conflicting parties in Darfur," as quoted by Jana.
Both parties agreed at the meeting that coordination of efforts between Tripoli and Washington is to continue with the main objective to bring peace to Darfur and improve relations between Sudan and Chad.
In Moscow, Gration met with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Margelov and other Sudan envoys and representatives of international organizations.
Envoys from China, the European Union, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, met on Tuesday and Wednesday in Moscow on the implementation of Sudan's comprehensive peace agreement and Darfur crisis.
A statement issued earlier by the US State Department said Gration was to discuss efforts in Tripoli as to "build cohesion among key Darfuri armed movements in support of an anticipated relaunch of the Doha peace process later this month."
