Tripoli– Libyan authorities announced Thursday morning that they will be putting two Swiss men on Trial before Christmas.
At a news conference, the spokesman of the General People's Committee for Foreign Liaison and International Cooperation (GPCFLIC) Mr. Khalid Kueim said the case of the two Swiss had nothing to do with the arrest of a Libyan VIP in July 2008.
The two Swiss men, Rachid Hamdani and Max Göldi, had entered Libya on tourist visas, now expired, but had been involved in business dealings during their stay and tax evasion, he said.
Kueim said the two men have been handed to the Swiss embassy in Tripoli on the condition it makes sure that they remain in the country until they face trial.
He also said it is understood that they would not remain in the embassy and they would be staying at their homes in the city.
The Libyan official said Tripoli seriously considers Switzerland's threat to kidnap the two men and that the Libyan government is concerned with their safety and that of the Libyan people.
"The continued Swiss media campaigns against Libya will always be counterproductive when it comes to bring this problem to an end," he added.
The Libyan official said what the Swiss Foreign Minister has done so far does not serve the case of the two Swiss men.
Kueim mentioned a pattern followed by the Swiss government aimed at blocking the investigation of what happened in July 2008.
He stressed that those who were responsible for the unjustified arrest of Hannibal Gaddafi must be put on trial as they were in violation of the Swiss law in the first place.
Kueim also said Libya has criticized "systematic solidarity" for Bern by European countries in imposing Schengen area visa restrictions on Libyans.
Libya has protested to European ambassadors and threatened to respond in kind if the measure continued.
Despite the huge European economic interests in Libya, European countries are not treating Libyan people fairly when it comes to entry visa.
Many complaints by the public have been focused on the ill treatment of Libyans at the doors of embassies such as the Swiss and the German which seem to deliberately and consistently aim to humiliate Libyan citizens who apply for entry visa to these countries.

Comment: Libya should apply the same rolls for Libyan visa as those countries do for the Libyan people.
Libya should treat citizens from those countries the same way those countries treat Libyan people when it comes to entry visa.
Why it´s easy for citizens from those countries to get entry visa to Libya, but not for Libyan people.

Comment: There is no one logical reason for these countries which always refuse to obtain entry visa i will say for libyan students , because about 90 percent of students who applied for a student visa , unfortunately ,these countries just fabricate stories and imposed restrictions on the libyan students .It is paradox that some countries refused to obtain student visa while their universities offered unconditional acceptance ,german , swiss and canada is in front of these. In addition, swiss men should be respectable law-abiding tourists in Libya .All in all , swiss govt is exacerbating by massaging the real facts which is beyond two swiss's detention but you are in Libya ,everyone is subject to the libyan law.
