General People's Congress and Libyan People's Activists issued the following declaration at the Congresses' festive session held today in the city of Sirte on the occasion of 33rd anniversary of Proclamation of the Authority of the People and the birth of the first Jamahiriya in history:
"General People's Congress, Libyan People's Activists of Social People's Leaderships, Free Unionist Officers, Officers of Armed People, Companions, Revolutionary Committees, Women's Activists, University Professors, members of Judiciary Authority, Officers of Public Security, Students and Youth, as they gather in the city of Sirte, to celebrate the 33rd anniversary of Proclamation of Authority of the People and birth of the first Jamahiriya in history, with great pride declare the following:
Firstly: Commend the stands of the leader of the Revolution and his vision regarding the imminent dangers facing Islam and the Arab Nation.
Secondly: Assure that People's Socialism is the economic option for the Jamahiri society in light of resolutions issued by Basic People's Congresses and the laws to achieve this objective.
Thirdly: Declare their adherence to genuine, pure Islam away from sectarianism and factionalism and pledge to work on the path of unifying the Muhammadan Ummah and to discard elements of disunity aim at making Muslims fight each other, become weak and allowing the enemy to separate them from their religion.
Fourthly: Call upon all peoples on earth to differentiate between terrorism, the common enemy of all of us, and the religious duty of Jihad practiced by Muslims in defense of themselves, their faith, their sacred sites and places of worship.
Fifthly: Urge peoples of the Muslim Nation to establish an Islamic Union to realize Islamic economic, military, security, political and social power.
Sixthly: People's Activists reaffirm measures taken by Libyan authorities against the Swiss Federation in response to uncivilized behaviors hostile to Islam and Muslims, which violate all international conventions, laws and agreements by transgressing the firmly established principles of Islamic religion and by preventing construction of mosques and minarets, stressing the need to intensify action to follow up the measures that have been taken against Switzerland to preserve Islam and dignity of Muslims.
Seventhly: Reassuring Jamahiriya's keen interest to develop its relations with peoples within the framework of mutual respect, good neighborhood, friendship and mutual cooperation."(JANA)
