Many football fans were surprised by Boateng’s unexpected training at his old club. His last Bayern game was in October 2022. But there will be no more. FC Bayern has decided against signing the footballer.
No contract due to legal proceedings?
After the first training session, criticism was raised because Boateng is facing criminal proceedings for bodily harm. A conviction was overturned due to formal errors, so the trial at the Munich regional court will be rescheduled. As “Bild” reports, this procedure was the deciding factor in not offering Boateng a contract.
Bayern would not have had to pay a transfer fee. Boateng is currently without a club. At Olympique Lyon, where he moved after his end with Munich, he did not get a new contract after last season.
Rumors about a move to Real Madrid – “not at all”
Most recently, Boateng’s agent rejected reports that his client was in discussion with Real Madrid as a replacement for the injured David Alaba. “In his entire career, Jérôme has never personally offered himself to any club or even called the president, basically not. He has an advisor for that,” wrote Boateng’s player agent Tolga Dirican on Friday on the X platform, formerly Twitter. According to the Catalan online newspaper “El Nacional”, there is “no truth” to the rumors.
Boateng moved from Manchester City to Bayern in the summer of 2011 after spells at Hertha BSC and Hamburger SV and played there for ten years.
