Coach Thomas Tuchel confirmed this on Sky broadcaster. Gnabry will therefore also be unable to take part in the national team’s trip to the USA in October with the new national coach Julian Nagelsmann’s first international matches.
Gnabry breaks his forearm: “Superbitter for him”
His latest status is that Gnabry should undergo surgery this Wednesday, said Tuchel. “Then it will take a few weeks,” said the Bayern coach: “It’s extremely bitter, especially for him personally, of course, but also for us. He’s just an important player.”
Gnabry collided with Münster goalkeeper Johannes Schenk in the fourth minute of the game. He continued to play briefly but was then substituted. Later he sat on the bench in the team anorak.
Gnabry will not only miss the upcoming games against RB Leipzig (30.9), FC Copenhagen (3.10) and SC Freiburg (8.10), but also the DFB international trip to the USA at the beginning of October.
Gnabry injured by his own club colleague
In the worst case scenario, the offensive all-rounder faces a compulsory break of six to eight weeks until he heals completely. Gnabry would therefore be available to Bayern again in mid/late November.
Particularly bitter: Gnabry was injured by his own club colleague. Schenk is currently on loan at Preußen Münster from FC Bayern. The 20-year-old comes from the FCB youth team, recently received a professional contract with FC Bayern until 2025 and then moved to the third division promoted club in order to gain more match practice.
