Brad Pitt on Formula 1 film: “You’ve never seen speed like this”

Not too much was known about Brad Pitt’s new film project. But now the Oscar winner has talked a bit out of the box and revealed the first details of the plot.

Over the weekend, Brad Pitt brought plenty of Hollywood magic to the Formula 1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone circuit. The actor shot scenes for his new film there, which doesn’t even have a title. All that was known so far was that the project would be about motorsport and Formula 1. Further details have been kept under wraps – until now! Because in an interview with Sky Sports Brad Pitt has divulged a few details about his Formula 1 film.

That’s what the Formula 1 film with Brad Pitt is about

As the Oscar winner said in the conversation: “I play a guy who was racing in the 1990s, then has a terrible accident, disappears and races in other disciplines. His friend, played by Javier Bardem, is a team owner and contacts him. The team is in last place and has never scored a point. But they have a young phenomenon, played by Damson Idris, and that’s where I come in.” So it sounds like the F1 film starring Brad Pitt tells a kind of mentoring story.

But the action could also be great. Pitt went on to say, “I’ll tell you what’s amazing about the film: cameras are mounted all over the car. Speed and G-forces have never been seen like this. It’s really very exciting.” Pitt probably also enjoyed the shoot: “Everything was great. The vibe is great to be part of it and to tell our story. The teams have opened their doors to us. (…) It’s nice to be here. We’re just having so much fun, the best time of my life.”

The F1 film starring Brad Pitt will be directed by Joseph Kosinski, who proved his hand-made action skills last year with Top Gun: Maverick. The script was written by Ehren Kruger. He recently wrote the screenplay for Top Gun: Maverick. Chad Oman and seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton are on board as producers. The film is made in close cooperation with the Formula 1 community. It is not yet known when the strip will start.
