Was pop singer Britney Spears brutally beaten in the face by NBA star Victor Wembanyama’s security team? Both broke their silence and commented on the incident in Las Vegas.
Now the NBA star Victor Wembanyama (19) and pop star Britney Spears (41) speak for themselves after the incident in a restaurant in Las Vegas. As US media previously reported, a member of the security team of the NBA team of the singer’s young basketball star previously punched in the face. The police are investigating.
“Kens” reporter Nate Ryan shared an interview with the French basketball player via Twitter, where he commented on the allegations for the first time. “Of course I read the news,” says Wembanyama. He was also woken up by a few calls during the night: “Something happened when I went to a restaurant with some of the team’s security guards.”
He heard “a person” call his name repeatedly, but he did not stop because the security staff had asked him to do so. Otherwise too large a crowd would have formed if he had stopped.
At the time, the professional athlete did not know that the person was Britney Spears: “This person grabbed my shoulder from behind. I didn’t see what happened because I was walking straight and they told me ‘don’t stop’. All I know is that security pushed them away.”
He does not know how much force his employees would have used. “I didn’t stop to check either, so I walked on and enjoyed a nice dinner,” Wembanyama said. He only found out “a few hours” later that it was the famous pop singer.
“At first I thought they were joking. But yeah, it turned out to be Britney Spears,” the Spurs player explained. It hadn’t been a big deal for him before, he had never looked at her face and couldn’t recognize her.
Britney Spears describes the incident via Instagram
Britney Spears herself spoke of “traumatic experiences” via Instagram. She recognized Wembanyama and wanted to speak to him, just patting him on the shoulder to get his attention: “The security guards then slapped me in the face in front of everyone. I was thrown to the ground and my glasses fell off my face.”
Her own security team had not become violent. All in all, she finds the incident embarrassing. She hopes that the NBA star and the security people will apologize publicly.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the police in Las Vegas have already confirmed the incident. An officer was sent to the scene because of possible bodily harm. There were no arrests. However, they did not want to reveal any further details.
In the meantime, the US media is reporting on a video from a surveillance camera that is said to have recorded the incident. Spears’ grip on Wembanyama’s shoulder can be seen on it, and a security guard then pushed her hand away, hitting her in the face with her own hand and falling.
