On their farm in Dobl near Graz, Cheyenne Ochsenknecht and her husband Nino Sifkovits not only live with their two children Mavie and Matteo, but also with around 150 animals, including around 60 cattle. In order to enable the animals, which the couple earns their living from raising and processing into high-quality steaks, to have a happy life, they recently had a larger stable built. They would like some people to give them more respect for their work on the farm.
Nino Sifkovits: “Our society will never give up meat”
Over 1,000 square meters of stable, awning and relaxation area – on Cheyenne Ochsenknecht and her Nino’s “Chianina Farm” the animals seem to lack for nothing. The 23-year-old, who moved to her father-in-law’s farm during the pandemic, regularly gives insights into life with her animals on Instagram. It has long been completely normal for them that they will be slaughtered at some point. “Many people, especially many children, first have to be made aware that an animal always has to die for our schnitzel,” says Cheyenne to “bild.de “.
Husband Nino agrees with his wife. “Our society will never give up meat, so it would make sense to simply produce good quality meat. In my opinion, meat should be the most expensive food of all,” said the 28-year-old.
Cheyenne Ochsenknecht would like more respect from vegans
With their passion for agriculture, Cheyenne and Nino are not only met with love, as the two revealed in an interview with “bild.de”. “Whenever we are criticized for our profession, I invite those on our farm to see for themselves that the animals are doing well,” emphasizes dad of two Nino. ““I would like to see more respect for us and our work,” adds Cheyenne. “Unfortunately I miss that with some vegans. I’m not criticizing anyone who prefers tofu schnitzel.”
