Day of German Unity on First and ZDF

The live broadcast begins on the First at 10:00 a.m., with the ecumenical celebratory service in Hamburg’s main church, St. Michaelis.

At 12:00 p.m. ZDF will broadcast the second episode of the documentary “The Dispute Republic – The Next Zoff”. The documentary shows how, despite increasing polarization, an exciting and cultivated exchange is possible in a democracy. If you missed the first part, you can watch it in the ZDFmediathek.

Between 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. the live broadcast of the official ceremony in Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie will be broadcast on ZDF. Among the approximately 1,300 invited guests are Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and representatives from politics, business and society.

“Hello Germany: Manor house rescuers in Mecklenburg” is a report that will be broadcast on ZDF from 5:30 p.m. and shows how manor house rescuers want to fulfill their dream of a magnificent life in the country.

The program “Am Puls mit Mitri Sirin” will also be shown on ZDF from 7:20 p.m. It tells the story of many East Germans and people with a migration background for whom October 3rd is not really a holiday: more than three decades after reunification, they still have the feeling that they are underrepresented and excluded from political participation.
