After the last Bundesliga matchday on Saturday, FC Bayern could be without a title. But even if there is nothing to celebrate, the Bayern professionals will meet for a party together – more is planned for Sunday.
While you could usually plan the championship celebrations at FC Bayern well in advance in recent years, the starting point is now completely different. The Munich team can only be crowned champions on Matchday 34 if Borussia Dortmund make a mistake (home game against Mainz 05) and they win at 1. FC Köln, otherwise there is a risk of the first season without a title since 2012.
But even if this scenario occurs and Bayern ends up without a shell, according to “Bild” there will be a celebration with the entire team. The party is to take place next Saturday evening in the “Motorworld” in Munich’s Freimann district and will start around 9 p.m. immediately after the team’s return from Cologne.
At championship, dress code changes for the party
However, depending on the outcome of the championship fight, there will be a big difference in this party. If FC Bayern surprisingly wins the German championship in the end, the celebration will take place in traditional costume.
If coach Thomas Tuchel’s team only returns to Munich as second in the table, then the dress code will probably be “casual” according to “Bild”.
One day after the Cologne game, ie on Sunday May 28th, Munich’s Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD) will then invite the team to City Hall.
The Bavarians have a lot planned for that day: From 2 p.m. there will be a public viewing on Marienplatz, then the last game of the Bundesliga women’s season against Turbine Potsdam will be shown. If the Bayern players win, they are German champions.
If they win the championship, the women will celebrate at Marienplatz from 5.30 p.m. together with the fans. There should even be buses to Marienplatz for those who watch the game at the Bayern campus in the stadium.
