Around ten minutes before the end, the TV camera suddenly panned towards the visitors’ block during the second division game between FC St. Pauli and Hannover 96. Wild commotions can be seen, Hanover supporters apparently throw objects at police officers. Sometimes you can see violent fights and throwing of cups and poles.
Serious fan riots in Hamburg – report on two versions
What happened? There is different information about this. As “Sky” reports, there are two versions. At one point it was said that fan banners had been torn down and that’s when the riots broke out. The other version is that a single fan in the block was attacked by several, the police wanted to protect him and so got caught between the fronts. The police confirmed that they had an operation in the block
The game resumed after five minutes. There were initially no reports of injuries. The top game of the 2nd league ended 0-0. FC St. Pauli remains unbeaten this season, but city rivals HSV can draw level on points this weekend. It is already the sixth draw for St. Pauli.
