Big exclamation mark from Maximilian Marterer! The German moves into the third round of Wimbledon for the first time in his career. The 28-year-old had the upper hand against the American Michael Mmoh with 7:5, 7:6(5) and 6:4.
Maximilian Marterer was the first German tennis pro to reach the third round at Wimbledon. The qualifier from Nuremberg won his second round game against the American Michael Mmoh 7: 5, 7: 6 (7: 5), 6: 4 in London on Thursday and is thus in the third round of the classic lawn game for the first time.
Marterer was particularly strong on his own serve and converted his first match point after 2:37 hours. The 28-year-old now meets Kazakh Alexander Bublik, who recently won the tournament in Halle and defeated Alexander Zverev there in the semifinals.
