Russia reacts strictly: British Chief of Defense Staff Radakin, known for his support for Ukraine, is banned from entering the country. Moscow is sending a clear message.
Russia is expanding its sanctions list to include an additional 23 British personalities from politics, the military, journalism and science. Prominent on this list, which appeared on the official Foreign Office website on Wednesday, is British Chief of Defense Staff Toni Radakin. According to media reports, he played a key role in organizing Western military support for Ukraine. Before this move, Moscow had already imposed sanctions on a significant number of London’s political establishment.
Entry ban and Moscow’s justification
Anyone on this list is now no longer allowed to enter Russia. The Russian capital explains the expansion of the sanctions list with alleged “anti-Russian behavior on the part of London” and with the “promotion of the neo-Nazi regime in Kiev”. Admiral Radakin, who took over as Chief of Defense Staff at the end of 2021, had a meeting with Russia’s Chief of General Staff Valery Gerasimov shortly before the conflict began. According to British sources, Gerasimov assured him that no Russian invasion was planned.
