Prince Harry (39) and his wife Meghan (42) have consciously broken away from the British royal family. Also financially: There is no longer any “royal” money flowing into Harry and Meghan’s accounts. But you don’t have to worry about either of them if current estimates are to be believed.
When the royal family blessing wasn’t yet awry, virtually all of the bills Prince Harry generated were paid by his father, the then Prince Charles. The US financial magazine Forbes estimated that Charles paid around $800,000 a year to his sons through the Duchy of Cornwall – per royal nose. That was all over when Harry and Meghan withdrew from the royal community in 2020, gave back their titles as “Royal Highnesses” and left England: The royal family and Daddy turned off the money.
Harry initially lived on the inheritance from his mother Princess Diana
But Harry and Meghan didn’t let it get them down. Initially, Harry’s late mother Princess Diana’s inheritance of an estimated $10 million secured her life. Meghan also brought with her some savings that she accumulated from her time as an actress, especially in the legal series “Suits”. Forbes estimated Meghan’s income at $2 million.
Afterward, Harry and Meghan showed some business acumen. They signed a five-year deal with Netflix in 2020 to produce documentaries, documentaries, feature films, scripted shows, and children’s programs. The deal is valued by Forbes at around $100 million. They also signed a contract with Spotify for an estimated $15 million for Meghan’s podcast “Archetypes”, but it expired in 2023 and was not renewed.
No worries: Harry and Meghan are worth $135 million
After shocking the whole world with their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, they went one better with the documentary “Harry & Meghan”. The controversial format paved the way for another coup: In January 2023, Harry’s tell-all book “Spare” was published, which sold 1.4 million copies in America alone on the day it was published – more than any other book had ever sold on the first day before. Forbes estimates that Harry received a $20 million advance for the book. Meghan also published two books, a children’s book, and a cookbook, although no income is known.
Overall, Forbes estimates Harry and Meghan’s fortune at around $135 million.
