ISW reports successes near Kherson: Ukraine pushes Russia back eight kilometers

In Kherson Oblast, on the eastern side of the Dnipro River, Ukrainian forces are leading a war, according to the Institute for the Study of War.ISW“continues to carry out more extensive operations than in the past. Natalia Humenyuk, spokeswoman for the Southern Operational Command, said that Ukrainian troops are successfully pushing back Russian forces and establishing a buffer zone of three to eight kilometers. The ISW points out that this area is larger than all previous open source evidence shows.

Ukrainian advances into Kherson

Ukraine is making further advances near the communities of Poima and Peschanivka. It is reported to be trying to offset Russian losses in the region. Ukrainian forces are also continuing their offensives and making progress in the western Zaporizhzhia Oblast, despite Russian military bloggers making claims to the contrary. The ISW notes that it cannot independently confirm these claims by Russian military bloggers.

Ongoing fighting in eastern Ukraine

The situation in the Russian-occupied areas of eastern Ukraine remains tense. Ukrainian armed forces continue their counteroffensives against Russia’s illegal invasion. The advances are usually only a few kilometers. The ISW highlights that despite Russia’s fortifications on the front lines, the Ukrainian armed forces are proving their operational capability and liberating around half of the territories occupied by Russia.
