Despite FC Bayern’s outstanding opening record in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, star striker Harry Kane has warned against their first opponents Manchester United. In an interview, the Englishman pointed out the special qualities of the Red Devils.
With a whopping 13 opening wins and 34 undefeated group games in the Champions League in a row, FC Bayern has set impressive records . At the start of the 2023/24 premier class season, FCB will face Manchester United next Wednesday (9 p.m.). Bayern may be favored, but they are still warned – especially thanks to the words of their star striker.
Harry Kane (30) expects a “difficult game”, as he said in an interview with Sports Illustrated told. “I know Manchester United are going through a difficult phase at the moment, but sometimes teams like that are dangerous because they are always looking to hit back in a big way,” said the England striker.
After many years at Tottenham Hotspur, Kane is very familiar with English teams and the Red Devils. He himself has already appeared in 19 competitive games against ManU. With five goals and three assists, Kane’s record against Manchester United can be improved. There were six wins and three draws. Ten meetings were lost.
“Of course we want to get the crowd behind us as early as possible on Wednesday in front of our home crowd and approach the game with a lot of intensity,” said Kane. “The Champions League is always special and my first game with Bayern Munich will stay with me. So I hope it goes well,” says the English national team captain, emphatically optimistically.
Kane wants to “get to know Tuchel even better”
After five matchdays, Manchester United is in 13th place in the English Premier League with just six points. Bayern have picked up ten points in four games and are in second place in the Bundesliga table, just behind Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Harry Kane has already settled in well and has recorded four goals and an assist in his first five competitive games for Bayern.
Nevertheless, despite the strong start, Kane is modest: “I didn’t do anything different than I’ve done at any other club so far. I like to lead by example when I’m on the training pitch or on the pitch. I talk to my teammates, help them and try to see how I can motivate them appropriately,” said Kane in the interview.
Harry Kane came to FC Bayern Munich from Tottenham for around 100 million euros in the summer after tough negotiations. The 30-year-old also expressly praises his new coach Thomas Tuchel (50): “He’s a really good guy and has great ideas about how we want to play and line up. Our relationship is good and I think it will continue to develop over time as we get to know each other better.”
Overall, Kane has a strong Champions League record and has 32 appearances, 21 goals and five assists. However, the world-class striker still lacks a title at club level.
