The DFB confirmed Kimmich’s absence on Friday before the final training session. As on Thursday, the FC Bayern star was missing from training.
Kimmich is missing from Nagelsmann’s debut – national coach has to reschedule
The new national coach Julian Nagelsmann is likely to give Kimmich a central role in his system. Against the USA on Saturday (9 p.m.) Nagelsmann will now have to resort to alternatives in central midfield. Robert Andrich, Leon Goretzka, Pascal Groß and Ilkay Gündogan are available in the squad.
It was previously said that Kimmich’s absence from training was merely a precautionary measure. All other 25 DFB professionals took part in the training session in Massachusetts. The national team then traveled to Hartford, where Nagelsmann wanted to comment on the game preparations at a press conference in the early evening (local time).
On the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, the DFB team will play their second friendly against Mexico. Kimmich should be back in the game by then.
