No DFB comeback for the time being: Nagelsmann will be without Manuel Neuer in the Nati goal

Manuel Neuer celebrated his comeback at FC Bayern last weekend after an injury break of almost eleven months. While the 37-year-old is immediately number 1 again for the German record champions, Neuer has to prove himself again in the DFB team.

According to current media reports, the goalkeeper will not return to the national team this year.

In November, the DFB selection will play its last two international matches this year. On November 18th, Julian Nagelsmann and his team will face Turkey in Berlin. The guest game in Vienna against Austria follows three days later (November 21st).

The exciting question is: Will Manuel Neuer celebrate his comeback in the national team? As “Sport BILD” reports, Julian Nagelsmann has decided against nominating the five-time world goalkeeper.

Neuer doesn’t (yet) make any demands

According to information from “Sport BILD”, Neuer has no problem with Nagelsmann’s decision. The FCB captain already made it clear last weekend that he is currently fully concentrating on FC Bayern and his personal form: “That is a topic that I am not currently dealing with at all. Because I played my first game today and I’m just happy that it went so well. “That I’m back,” he explained after the Bundesliga game against Darmstadt.

The 37-year-old also emphasized that he is fully aware that he cannot make any claims after his long downtime: “I think that he (ter Stegen, editor’s note) is currently number 1.”

Neuer also revealed that he is in contact with national coach Nagelsmann and that he feels no pressure about the DFB comeback: “I also spoke to Julian Nagelsmann on the phone and he wished me all the best. That’s why everything is totally relaxing for me. I’m looking forward to the next games and will give it my all as always.”
