No Formula 1 races on free TV in the current season. Since Sky has to show four competitions that are still freely accessible, another solution has now been found for the race from Barcenlona.
Sky shows the Formula 1 race on Sunday in Barcelona free of charge on the Internet. After the planned transmission of the Grand Prix in Imola (May 21) was canceled due to the cancellation of the race, the pay-TV broadcaster has now decided on a new Grand Prix, as it announced on Monday. According to Sky, the broadcast can be seen on “skysport.de” as well as via the app and the Sky Sport YouTube channel. This also applies to the Grand Prix of Budapest (July 23).
Sky has an obligation
Sky has been the only provider in Germany to show all Formula 1 races since 2021. RTL had sub-licensed four races in each of the past two years, but decided against a new contract with the pay-TV broadcaster at the beginning of the year. The search for an RTL successor was unsuccessful. According to the contract with Formula 1, four races per season must be free-to-air.
