American ski jumper Patrick Gasienica has died at the age of just 24. This was announced by the US Ski and Snowboard Association. “We are in deep sadness. Our thoughts and condolences are with his family, friends and the ski jumping community. Gasienica was an “incredible athlete, teammate and person”.

Gasienca died last Monday. An official cause of death was not given. According to US media reports, he fell victim to a motorcycle accident.

The American never managed to qualify for a World Cup. He appeared on the big stage for the first time at the Junior World Championships in 2016 and 2017. At the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, he took 49th place on the normal hill and was tenth with the team.
