Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan: No invitation to the Queen’s memorial service

For the first time since the Queen’s death, Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry are traveling to Europe together. However, not to England.

It will be almost a year since Queen Elizabeth II († 96) died on the evening of September 8, 2022 at Balmoral Castle. To mark the first anniversary of her death, members of the British Royal Family come together to mourn and remember their beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Prince Harry (38) and Duchess Meghan (41) will be in Europe, but will not be invited to the commemorations.

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan: joint Europe trip to the “Invictus Games”

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are traveling together to the “Invictus Games” in Düsseldorf, which start on September 9, 2023 – since the Queen’s funeral on September 19 last year, it is the first trip to Europe that the couple has taken as a couple might. At the games farewell party on September 16, Duchess Meghan will even moderate part of the show, a great honor for the mother of two.

But she is not so welcome in her husband’s homeland. As reported by thesun.co.uk, the Sussexes should not be in the UK the day before to attend official and private commemorations of the Queen’s one-year death anniversary.

Royals commemoration on Balmoral: Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are left out

While King Charles (74) together with his wife Queen Camilla (76) family members such as Prince William (41) and his wife Princess Kate (41) and the children Prince George (10), Princess Charlotte (8) and Prince Louis (5) and Prince Edward (59) and his wife Duchess Sophie (58) to Balmoral to commemorate together, his youngest son and his wife are left out.

An insider on “The Sun“There has been no contact with them whatsoever.” However, another source assured, “If they are not involved in family plans, they will certainly mark the momentous day in their own way.”

Prince Harry longs for his family

But it seems bitter, especially for Prince Harry. Even his disgraced uncle Prince Andrew, 62, and ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, 62, have been invited to the private memorial service, while he’s obviously not welcome. Insiders want to know that Prince William’s brother misses his family very much. But especially with his father King Charles there is currently no active contact.

Prince Harry finds it particularly difficult to be away from his family in the summertime: Because they stick to the Queen’s tradition of spending the summer on Balmoral – and enjoying the time-out with family members. The fact that Harry, Meghan – and thus the two children Archie (4) and Lilibet (2) – will not be there obviously hurts the 38-year-old very much.
