In front of the eyes of new signing Kim Min-jae and on the day of signing sporting director Christoph Freund, FC Bayern Munich won a friendly by a landslide. Coach Thomas Tuchel’s team beat FC Rottach-Egern from the district class 27-0 (18-0) on Tuesday evening.
In front of 2500 spectators, including Honorary President Uli Hoeneß, Marcel Sabitzer (5), Jamal Musiala (5), Mathys Tel (5), Serge Gnabry (3), Sadio Mané, Kingsley Coman, Raphael Guerreiro, Ryan Gravenberch, Dayot Upamecano, Leroy Sané, Alphonso Davies, Konrad Laimer and Noussair Mazraoui scored the goals for Munich in Rottach-Egern. Bayern did not have the change candidates Yann Sommer and Alexander Nübel in the squad. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting had to leave after just a few minutes of action early in the second half.
Newcomer Kim looks on: Bayern wins overwhelmingly against Rottach-Egern
Kim had been officially signed just before kick-off as the third signing of the summer. The South Korean national soccer player comes from SSC Naples and signed with the German record champions until June 30, 2028. The defender greeted his colleagues and cycled on an ergometer in the tent on the sports field. He couldn’t participate yet. The 26-year-old is expected to train under Thomas Tuchel on Wednesday.
Even more than with Kim’s commitment, the people of Munich drew attention on Tuesday with Christoph Freund as the new sports director. He starts work on Säbener Strasse on September 1st. The 46-year-old Austrian comes from FC Red Bull Salzburg, for which he holds the same position. He is the successor to sports director Hasan Salihamidzic, from whom the Munich team and CEO Oliver Kahn parted at the end of May.
The people of Munich are preparing at Tegernsee until Thursday. After the team presentation on Sunday in the Allianz Arena, the star ensemble will travel to Asia from July 24th to August 3rd. In the three friendlies in Tokyo and Singapore against Manchester City, Liverpool FC and Kawasaki Frontale, resistance awaits Bayern after the easy gallop in Rottach-Egern.
After Laimer and Guerreiro, Kim is the Bundesliga club’s third new signing. Munich continue to work on a possible signing of Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur. Manchester City’s Kyle Walker is also in talks.
