Tesla, Twitter Owner Elon Musk Reclaims World’s Richest Person Slot

According to Bloomberg’s calculation, the owner of Tesla and the social media giant Twitter Elon Musk has reclaimed his title as the world’s richest person.

Last year, in December, Bernard Arnault, the CEO of French luxury brand LVMH, overtook him in wealth, pushing Elon Musk to the second spot on the list. However, a recent surge in Tesla’s stock price has once again made Musk the wealthiest person, according to Bloomberg’s real-time Billionaires Index.

As of the market close on Monday, Bloomberg revealed that Musk’s net worth had reached about $187.1 billion, exceeding Arnault’s wealth of $185.3 billion.

Tesla’s stock experienced a significant decline last year, attributed to Musk’s problematic acquisition of Twitter and a broader technology market downturn. Nevertheless, the shares of the electric vehicle manufacturer have rallied in 2023.

While Elon Musk currently holds the title of the world’s wealthiest person, he also holds the distinction of having experienced the biggest fortune loss in history.

It is pertinent to mention here that at the end of 2022, Elon Musk became the only person to have ever lost $200 billion in wealth. This occurred when his net worth dropped from roughly $340 billion in November 2021 to $137 billion in December 2022.
