Recently, FC Bayern had to struggle with a thinned-out squad. But now three players are returning to team training, just in time for the cup game and the important duel against Dortmund.

After almost two months without public training sessions, Bayern opened the gates on Säbener Straße to the fans again this Monday. Particularly pleasing: The supporters were able to welcome three returnees to team training: Leon Goretzka, Raphael Guerreiro and Dayot Upamecano. Serge Gnabry, who was recently ill, is also fit again and was on the training pitch with his colleagues.

Relieving – two more options in midfield, one in defense

The return of Upamecano, Guerreiro and Goretzka should provide great relief for Thomas Tuchel. Especially because Joshua Kimmich will miss the upcoming Bundesliga top game against Borussia Dortmund due to a red card suspension. With Goretzka and Guerreiro, Tuchel now has two options for central midfield.

Upamecano’s comeback also helps in the center of defense. Minjae Kim and Matthijs de Ligt had to play there most recently. It will be exciting to see whether and how Tuchel will rotate in the cup game on Wednesday at 1. FC Saarbrücken.
