Two Ukrainian women twerk on soldiers’ graves – five years in prison

The unidentified sisters visited the grave of their father, who was killed while defending Ukraine against the Russian invasion near Izium. The women – dressed in crop tops, booty shorts and crocs – set up a camera, the New York Post reports. Then the women danced over the flower-decorated graves of two soldiers in the forest cemetery while images of the fallen combatants and the Ukrainian flag were displayed. The dance clip went viral.

Kiev police said in a telegram that the women were arrested less than an hour after officers were made aware of the reckless act.

Women face three to five years in prison

“The investigators of the Desnyan Police Directorate, in consultation with the prosecutor’s office, have initiated criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 297 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – insulting the grave,” the Ukrainian-language article reads.

“Currently, the question of notifying the suspects is being clarified. The suspects face imprisonment for a term of three to five years or an equivalent period of imprisonment.”

The sisters later apologized on Instagram, explaining that they initially thought their late father would have been pleased with their provocative dance.
