Iran has indicated that any agreement that it makes with Oman on the Strait of Hormuz will not be enforced unless the United States meets its obligations, which is an indication that Tehran is not in a hurry to open the strategic waterway.
The deputy foreign minister of Iran indicated that Tehran would not take a step towards the reopening of the strait until Washington fulfills its duties. He also said that Iran would keep on doing what it can to protect itself and fight what it perceives as hostile powers, but it is ready to face any eventuality.
In response to the Strait of Hormuz situation, the deputy foreign minister indicated that the waterway is still closed and that no ships can pass through without the coordination of Tehran.
He also affirmed that Iran had agreed with Oman on the strait, but emphasized that the agreement would not be implemented until the United States honors its promises.
The remarks highlight the fact that Tehran still depends on both diplomatic and military strategies in the context of increased tensions in the region.
Israeli Attacks persist in Gaza, West Bank and Lebanon
In the meantime, Israeli military action has persisted in Gaza, occupied West Bank and southern Lebanon.
Medical sources in Gaza reported to Al-Araby TV that five Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes on various parts of the Gaza Strip in the past 24 hours.
An Israeli drone attack also hit a medical warehouse at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, wounding four Palestinians, an Al-Araby TV correspondent reported.
The attack on the hospital warehouse prompted Doctors Without Borders to request hospitals and medical facilities to be secured.
In the occupied West Bank, Israeli troops did not allow Palestinians to go back to their shops and houses in the Old City of Hebron as tensions persisted in the region.
Reports also show that Israeli soldiers attacked journalists who were trying to record the entry of settlers into the Old City.
In Jalud, south east of Nablus, Israeli settlers were reported to have attacked a Palestinian family and two foreign journalists. A Palestinian man and his wife were bruised, and the two journalists were injured as well.
In Lebanon, Israeli troops kept assaulting south towns. The Israeli planes made massive attacks on Mansouri and the environs of Nabatieh al-Fawqa.
Israeli troops were also reported to have burnt down a number of houses and tracts of land in the western periphery of the area, further raising the alarm over the ongoing escalation along the Lebanese border.
