CAIRO – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met Aliko Dangote, founder and chairman of the Dangote Group and chairman of the Africa Entrepreneurs Initiative, on the sidelines of the El Alamein-Africa Business Forum in New Alamein City.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aaty.

Presidential spokesperson Ambassador Mohamed El Shenawy said Sisi welcomed Dangote’s visit to Egypt and his participation in the forum, while praising his contributions to economic development and industrialization across Africa.

Sisi also highlighted the Dangote Group’s expansion across regional and international markets, particularly in the cement, fertilizer, energy and food industries. The group’s activities, he said, have helped strengthen production and industrial capacity in several African countries.

The president also expressed Egypt’s appreciation for Dangote’s career and noted his background as a graduate of Al-Azhar University, describing it as a reflection of the longstanding historical and cultural ties among African peoples and an example of economic integration and cooperation across the continent.

During the meeting, Sisi emphasized Egypt’s support for strengthening the role of Africa’s private sector as a key partner in achieving sustainable development and advancing the objectives of the African Union’s Agenda 2063.

The discussions also focused on potential cooperation between the Dangote Group and Egypt in several strategic sectors, including energy, fertilizers, chemicals and cement.

According to the presidential spokesperson, Egypt’s economic capabilities and modern infrastructure could support its development as a regional hub for energy and industrial activity, creating opportunities for deeper cooperation with major African companies.

Dangote expressed hope that the Egyptian government would support the group’s plans to invest in the country.

Sisi welcomed the prospect of Dangote Group investments in Egypt and said the state was prepared to provide the necessary facilities and support to help advance such projects.

The discussions come as Egypt seeks to strengthen its position as a regional investment and industrial hub while promoting greater private-sector integration across Africa. For Dangote Group, potential investment in Egypt could also provide an opportunity to expand its presence in key industrial sectors and deepen commercial links within one of the continent’s largest economies.
