The White House press office has announced that US Vice President JD Vance will hold a press briefing on Thursday. It will be his first press briefing at the White House since last July.
Karoline Leavitt completed her final duties as White House press secretary last week. She will now work for an organisation called “MAGA Inc.”, a political committee supporting President Donald Trump’s movement. However, she will continue to serve as an adviser to the president alongside her new role.
Leavitt held her final press briefing on July 23. She had only recently returned to work after taking two and a half months of maternity leave. The 28-year-old Leavitt gave birth to her second child in May.
During Leavitt’s absence, several other administration officials took turns conducting White House press briefings. Those officials included JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
It is worth noting that Vance and Rubio currently appear to be the leading potential Republican contenders for the 2028 presidential election. Neither, however, has formally announced a campaign.
JD Vance’s most recent briefing for reporters was held on June 18, shortly after the Trump administration reached an initial ceasefire agreement with Iranian officials.
The 60-day ceasefire was repeatedly violated by US and Iranian forces and eventually ended last month without producing a lasting peace agreement.
In recent months, Vice President JD Vance has also led a special task force tasked with uncovering fraud and financial irregularities in social services programmes in states governed by Democrats.
