DUBAI: Houthi attacks have injured 73 people, including women and children, in several cities and towns across Saudi Arabia, a military spokesman said on Tuesday, as the Kingdom vowed to take measures to counter the group and protect its territory.
Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, described the latest escalation and attempts to target Saudi territory and infrastructure as “dangerous,” saying the attacks reflected what he called the Houthis’ “hostile and irresponsible” approach.
Al-Maliki said the latest attacks targeted civilian and economic sites in the Saudi cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran, leaving 73 civilians injured.

He accused the Houthis of deliberately targeting Saudi national infrastructure and civilian facilities, describing the attacks as a violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and a direct threat to the safety of its citizens and residents.
The military spokesman said the coalition’s joint forces would take all necessary operational measures to deter further Houthi attacks and confront what he described as the group’s hostile actions.
He added that “necessary measures and procedures” would be taken to address the sources of the threat and neutralize the danger posed by the group.
Saudi Arabia’s Energy Ministry separately said several energy-sector facilities and infrastructure in the Kingdom’s southern region had been targeted. The attacks triggered fires and forced a temporary halt to some operations, the ministry said, adding that relevant authorities had begun assessing and repairing the affected facilities while taking necessary measures to ensure their safety.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry condemned the attacks, saying the Kingdom would not tolerate assaults against its territory or resources and reserved the legitimate right to take whatever measures were necessary to defend its sovereignty.
The ministry also called on the Houthi militia to end all forms of escalation and threats to maritime security, while warning against attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure.
The latest violence highlights the continuing security risks facing Saudi Arabia’s southern region and critical infrastructure amid renewed tensions involving the Iran-aligned Houthi movement.
