Libyan Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah held talks with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani in Tripoli on strengthening bilateral relations and reviving cooperation between the two countries.
The media office of Dbeibah reported that the meeting was aimed at enhancing diplomatic representation and reinstating the joint higher committee between Libya and Syria.

The two parties also talked about the expansion of economic, investment and trade cooperation and the settlement of the pending financial claims between institutions in both countries.
There was also a discussion on security cooperation and collaboration in fighting terrorism, as well as the citizens and communities of the two countries, consular services, prisoners and detainees, refugees and displaced people.
The officials also talked about the reopening of the Syrian consulate in Benghazi, which would assist in restoring the consular services in eastern Libya.

Dbeibah added that the negotiations must mark a new chapter in Libya-Syria relations on the basis of mutual interests, practical cooperation and attempts to solve the old problems that afflict the citizens of both nations.
